How NurseConnect Works for Nurses
A step-by-step guide to signing up, uploading your compliance documents, and landing your first shift on NurseConnect Australia.
Finding flexible nursing work in Australia has historically meant dealing with staffing agencies, phone calls, and mountains of paperwork. NurseConnect is designed to change that — putting you in control of when, where, and how you work.
Step 1: Create your account
Sign up at NurseConnect and choose the nurse role. You will be asked for your name, email, and a secure password. The whole process takes under two minutes.
Step 2: Complete your nurse profile
Your profile is how facilities assess you before accepting an application. Fill in your professional details, nursing category (Registered Nurse, Enrolled Nurse, or Midwife), specialties, and your availability preferences. You can also set your preferred regions so you only see shifts near you.
Step 3: Upload your compliance documents
Australian healthcare has strict compliance requirements. NurseConnect lets you upload and manage all required documents in one place:
- AHPRA registration certificate
- National Police Check (issued within 3 years)
- Working with Children Check (where required)
- Professional indemnity insurance
- Immunisation history
- BLS / CPR certificate
Our admin team reviews and verifies documents typically within one business day. Once approved, a verified badge appears on your profile — giving facilities confidence when reviewing your application.
Step 4: Browse and apply for shifts
Head to Browse Shifts to search available positions. Filter by state, nursing specialty, or shift type (morning, afternoon, night). Each shift listing shows the facility name, date, time, and pay rate. When you find one that suits, click Apply, add an optional note, and submit.
Step 5: Track your applications
Your My Applications page shows every application and its status — pending, accepted, or rejected. When a facility accepts your application, you receive an instant notification by email and in-app. Accepted shifts appear prominently on your dashboard.
Getting paid
After completing a shift, your payment history is tracked on the platform. NurseConnect provides full visibility into what you have earned and when.
NurseConnect is and will always be free for nurses. Sign up today and browse shifts available across Australia.
